Latest News - February 2010

  • February brings another month of education issues for Bob having just completed phase 1 of Cumbria's BSF Leadership programme.

  • On the 3rd the Governors of Lostock College will be consulting on the Trafford proposal to establish an Academy in a merger with Stretford High School in a new BSF funded school.

  • Bob will be in Westminster on the 4th for a meeting on the Capital programmes for schools and colleges and on the 5th Toshiba are sponsors of the Annual conference of the Independent Academies Association.

  • Bob will be coaching his Trainee Headteachers on the 6th,working with City of Leeds College on the 10th,the LSIS/BECTA "Strategic Leadership of Technology" conference for Governors.

  • The 12th and 23rd are Employment Tribunal days.

  • The Building Schools Conference at London ExCel is on the  24/25th.

    Bob Harrison kept close to the learning at the HHL 09 event. And he wasn't disappointed.

    The past six years have seen an explosion of mobile and wireless technologies since social entrepeneur Graham Brown-Martin first pulled together a small but growing network of educationists and technologists at Goldsmith College for the inaugural Handheld Learning conference.

    One of the first things President Obama did on taking office was to announce the closure of the controversial Guantanamo Bay prison. A less reported action was his decision to double expenditure on technology in education.

    Now Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices in Online Learning: A Meta-Analysis and Review of Online Learning Studies, a study by the US Department of Education, suggests he made the right decision.
